This story is a delight and a disappointment: an excellent opening both in artwork and in story line, which then fades and becomes very tired near the end. One feels that in too many stories Hampson was becoming tired of them - and it shows.
The artwork at the start is prime early Hampson, as these 6 frames from the bottom of the inside of the opening issue show:
These action frames are superb, and show Hampson at his best.
Note the signature in the corner: Hampson had fallen ill, and Harold Johns and Greta Tomlinson were to complete the story. The script was taken over by Chad Varah.
The Mercurians agree to help Dan and Co - with some more misunderstadings!
